This is a school recess story that I tell my classmate during my tender age >.< Ok, actually I never told anybody this story before. I’d kept it with myself all the while until the time I wrote this sharing.
I still can remember clearly that faithful afternoon I adopted a mother cat and her super adorable kittens. As usual, back from school at 12.10pm, I dashed back to the backyard where a pile of junk and a rusted bicycle jumble together under the so called garage. The mother cat shifted her kittens to this new home the previous night.
I was just a primary 3 pupil that time and had no idea about cat in general. Yes, I saw many stray cats loitering in the backyard but they are just too shy to get close to.
But this mother cat, I assume it had moved from shelter to shelter a few times till it found this shelter that protects them from rain and hot sun. I was so thrilled that without second thought, I slipped my hand into the tiny dirty small space in attempt to take a closer look at the kittens. The mother cat prowled angrily and suddenly I felt a sharp pain at my palm. I went back to the house in teary eyes and frightened.
Second day the mother cat still with her kittens, feeding them. The kittens were yet to open their eyes. I tried my luck, but quickly retreat my hand halfway when I heard the prowl.
Third day, the mother cat still with her kittens in same position exactly the same like first day. I was surprised, “It never left the place to find food?” I asked myself. I started to feel pity to the mother cat and guilty for disturbing their peace. I ran back home, find some chicken bones, and put them in front of the tiny place. The mother cat finished them in seconds. I continued feeding her every day.
Every time she came out to eat, I try to pat and caress her head. The little kittens grew bigger each day. They came out to play but still very shy. If lucky, I could hold on to one of it.
The mother cat start to come out more often and her little kittens would follow her. The garage became their play ground and mine as well..haha. The mother cat stay with us in our house for a few years I couldn’t remember how long until one day it left us and never return.
People said when the time has come for cat to ‘go’, it will find a place outside and never “go” in its own home or in front of the owner.
She didn’t leave us lonely though, she leave many grand kitten and grand’s grand kittens behind.

** She was a pure black cat, with shinny fur. Favourite food is rice with ‘kepala ikan bilis’=) **

After reading so many bedtime stories, I do have one to share.

I used to date a guy for more than 10 years and we nearly got married. However, thing went wrong at the end and we did not make it.

We had a dog together. He is a maltese, named YUKI. Yuki was always a very playful and active little dog. During those days, he seen to know that I was upset. I still remember those heart broken nights, Yuki is the one who accompanied me. He would just quietly sit next to me.

Eventhough Yuki is not with me anymore, I will always remember him. Anyway, I do find my Mr Right later on and we have our little Dylan now.

The moral of the story is ‘Dog is always more worth trusted than a Man' :)

I have a pretty fun childhood in the middle of palm oil estates with more than 10 doggies running in and out and about my house. I admit that i'm not a delicate person who can handle pet.. but i do adore little animals. There are a few heart breaking stories but i'm about to share with you one of them.

I was on holiday, at home, at night. We had dinner and it's rainy night. It rained so heavily that we had to yell so that we could hear each other in the kitchen. Out of the sudden i heard a tiny whining sound from outside the window pane. Despite the rain tapping noise, i tried focusing on the whining sound. It sounded like a puppy whining for help in the drain! I told my sister stenfeny and both of us went out to look for the poor puppy. Umbrellas, extremely wet legs and torchlights running up and down the heavily-flowed drain just to locate the whining sound. We were so afraid that the puppy might drown from the heavy rain! Thank god not long after the hard work, my sister finally saved the little puppy from the drain!! It's just very difficult to imagine how happy we were when we managed to save the puppy's life. We fed him, make a box like a house for him, with cloths to protect him from the chill.

Days passed and he's grown a little bit and he's very notty, well, in a very good way. Whenever my mom is trying to sweep the floor at the car porch, he'll surely running and chasing the broom all over the place. He'll also bite the broom and my mom will start swinging it and he looks so cute biting the broom and not letting it go. Everyone had fun watching my mom and the puppy swinging here and there. Stenfeny is really in love with him as this is the first ever pet she's keeping. He really brings alot of joy to us.

One fine morning when i was sleeping, my mom rushed up and woke me up in a very bad way. I hate the feeling of being wake up this way but i hate the saddening feeling of what she's telling me even more. The puppy woke up as joyfully as ever that morning when my dad prepared to go to work. My dad went out to ignite the car's engine, washed the car a little bit just to warm it up after a chilling night. My mom was back in the kitchen, preparing for the day. The puppy sneaked out from the main gate as my dad left it slightly opened. When he was about to cross the road rushing towards my dad, a reckless driven car came and ran over the puppy. He's dead. There's no sign of breathing and he bled like there's no tomorrow. There is really no tomorrow for him, nor us, with him. My dad felt so awful since he's the one who had left the gate opened and all of us were so sad. I cried in the bed. Later in the afternoon, stenfeny came home from school. She was yelling and scolding like mad. Never as we thought that this could be happening to the puppy. We'd successfully saved him from misery, hoping to give him a good life. But God just wanted to take him away. HE did spared his life for a few weeks just to be with us, for us to love him, for him to be loved. Hope he'll have a better life next time when he's in this world again...

oh dear.. that's so heart breaking, I could not even cope losing 1 pet, how did you overcome losing 3 lovely pets altogether? That's so sad, Ryanne. My dog Patch, a dalmation cross also encountered breathing difficulty and salivating excessively before he passed out 2 months ago.. :(

I was keeping a cute dog-- Tutu (german shephard face and hush puppy leg :D) for about 13 years. Another dog -- ET (Tutu's daughter, which really looks like an ET) was with me for about 10 years. One day, I adopted another puppy from SPCA named "dao dao" (Bean in cantonese). After I sent her to vaccination, she brought back virus, and caused a serious outbreak in my living area.
Daodao died, 9 months old.

We never thought it was a virus, until I found ET was unusual in one day. She used to be very active (exactly like ET..), but that day she was soo tired, like low-battery. She kept on vomiting some white thingy, and she has breathing difficulties. I was panic, and called up vet to come over. They came, wanted to bring her go. This is the first time, and the last time, I saw ET intended to bite them. SHE NEVER BITE PEOPLE! I still remember, her sad face, her tears, her moan, was fading in my sight.

I know she will never come back. 2 weeks after, the same thing happended on Tutu. She knew what was going on, she knew she could never live longer than that, she knew that was the last time I could pamper her, warm her with my hug. She remain quiet, even when they came and pick her up. I couldnt see her for the very last time, as my eyes were full of tears.

This could not be happen, if I brought them for vaccination every year. The pain of losing 3 lovely pets, or better said 3 daughters, will stay in the deepest part of my heart, forever.

Hi. I and my bro have soft spots for small animals too. I favor the cat while he favors the dog. We have raised cat and few dogs during our childhood. It was fun and memorable moments but commitment that tagged along is incredibly high. If you do not have the space, budget, time and even love /humanity, please do not take any easy and tempt decision to have one as they are basically very helpless and dependable creatures.
Let me quote an example here: I have this neighbor that kept his 2 cats in a cage at the house balcony. He has the cats exposed to the sun during the day and rains during heavy storm. He has left the cat starving. He has the cats dehydrate. He has the cats fight with flees as no change of the litter box. And most heart wrenchingly is the cats are always locked in the small cage. I have moved into the neighborhood for 2 years and that was also the duration that I have never seen the cats out of the cage. All the cats can do is to sleep and yet only sleep.
But I am glad to conclude my story here that the 2 cats had been adopted by a fine, loving and responsible couple results from the divorce of their irresponsible owners. God blessed and we miss u, Poppy!

Your story remind me on my family. They treated me well, just like part of their family. The kids used to play with me during my days in their home. My time has come and I was getting very ill when I'm 7. I'm really suffered and don't feel want to move at all. I can see the tears from my little owners when they were looking at me. But I can't just chasing around with them anymore.

That was a rainy night, I heard their discussion and planned to get help from the veterinary for my euthanasia. I know it was not easy for them to make the decision and it could be the best solution for me. But, I just do not like the feeling to be injected.

The very next morning was the last time I saw them went for work and school. I escaped to the nearby jungle and spent the rest of life there. They could have searched for me and also cried for me but I think this is just the right decision as I do not want to see them sad again.

Thanks for the love. Poppy from heaven.

I don't have bedtime story, lunch time can ah?

My mum used to tell me a story, not during bedtime, but when feeding me with porriage. It is about a movie of an elephant kept by someone very rich. The wife in the movie didn't like the elephant and tortured the elephant by not giving it food, tied it to a tree. One day, when the wife looking at TV (this one I made up one, not sure what she is doing, maybe surfing Internet), her son who is playing in the park was about to bite by a snake. So the elephant (at this moment, my mum will sing a song... something like '大象， 大象， 我的朋友。。。我的朋友。。。')... struggled and broke the chain and save the kid. The moral of the story is 'One should have more than one animal stories, so that you don't keep repeating it like my mum... kidding)

P/S '大象， 大象， 我的朋友。。。我的朋友。。。' is elephant, elephant, my friend.... my friend... wierd I know!
