I also traveled to Lijiang from Kunming and Dali last Nov. I stayed there for 5 days and spent two days to hike from Yufeng Lamasery to Wenhai Lake (about 3.5 hours), hike from Wenhai Lake to Lashihai Lake (about 4.5 hours). Personally, I prefer Dali Old Town to Lijiang Old Town because the latter is too commercial. If some body want to travel to Dali or Lijian, I sugget they'd better to visit the ancient villages. I once visited the Shaxi Village and the village in the Erhai Lake in Dali. The two less-visited places have impressed me deeply. Great experience!
